How Does Fascism Take Root? A Classic 1961 Movie With an All-Star Cast About Real-Life Events Paints the Picture Quite Well.

To anyone who hasn't seen it (or hasn't seen it for years), I highly recommend that you sit down and watch the complete movie, Judgment at Nuremberg.

Here's the link:

The film came out in 1961, but there is shocking wartime footage that the American public had never seen until then.

You really need to watch the full movie, start to end. It's history - and it's a true representation of the trial of the Nazi judges.

There's more to the sick, twisted legacy of Nazi Germany than simply just Hitler, Himmler and the generals.

And it's a warning to any democracy with fringe elements.

If you don't have a strong stomach, I suggest you not eat while watching it. And that comment is not made in jest.

The cases are real, names have been changed.

Col. Tad Lawson's opening statement by the prosecution is taken directly from that of U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Telford Taylor on March 5, 1947 almost word for word.

Then it is way past time to watch it again.
@beckyromero the new Nuremberg should include everyone in the Senate and House, and the executive branches going back to 1947. Europe needs to take in every Israeli from there. Including Russia.

We can debate the re-creation of a Jewish state until the cows come home.

But you know the movie isn't about that. It's about how fascism takes root in a society when the laws of the state are perverted.
@beckyromero yes. Still keep looking back! Nothing for today, I guess we can't learn things to apply in our world, that's the past only! Good thing I don't expect justice or any signs of memory from that time to apply now! Never contextualize an ethical imperative! Americans never never never would! You point my attention where you want it! So, no. No I don't think it's good to watch it again if we're not allowed to apply it to now. Fascism wasn't defeated by the USA, it was saved and rehabilitated and taken to Chile, etc.
No progress came from WWII, just US hegemony, fascism.

If you have read my many posts, you should know I am fond of quoting Santayana.
@beckyromero okay.
Fascism is the result of going through the motions of capitalism, being wage slaves and bosses. Thatcher and Reagan understood that.

I'm just saying that bringing up the question of a Palestine state is worthy a discussion. But that should be a separate discussion. The focus of this post is the trial of the Nazi judges and what is means when a democracy starts perverting its justice system to suite those in power.

No different than a discussion about the Chicago Cubs suddenly turning into a discussion about the Chicago Blackhawks.

I see that @jackjjackson is questioning the legality of a Palestinian state.

Why not draw him out on his views? Or create a post on your views on what the borders should be.
@beckyromero y'all know that one! Y'all never never responded to any of my posts. It's fun to be the bad one, behind blue eyes. Shadows ban everyone like me! Not your greatness! You rule! Y'all got a country. Y'all exclude people. Y'all got the algorithm. Carry on! Bipartisan. Together. You're great! Why not admit you shun people and that's all for now?
Mr Jackson was answering the question regarding whether a requirement of a hypothetical country is having borders. @beckyromero

Maybe post more meaningful arguments and you'll get more engagement.

(Instead of rah rah pro-Ruskie propaganda most of the time.)
