UK recognises Palestine as an independent state

Took 70 years but, better late than never. Now it's time to stop the Israeli genocide and find a peaceful solution for both sides!

I thought the UN created Palestine back around 1946/1947? And before all the various Arab/Israeli Wars, didn't the Palestinians actually have a homeland on the West Bank and in part of Jerusalem?

@ChipmunkErnie

The Palestinians and neighboring Arab states did not accept the UN partition plan and attacked Israel, which had just declared its independence. This 1948 war was lost by the Arabs, as were their '67 and '73 wars against Israel. After the '73 war, Egypt and Jordan came to their senses and made peace with Israel (costing the Egyptian President Anwar Sadat his life, murdered by anti-Israel hardliners).

Since then, the Palestinian ruling political parties have "never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity" for a two-state solution, as Abba Eban aptly put it many years ago.
@Thinkerbell Of course. Israel was just trying to exist peacefully and wished nothing but the best for their Arab neighbours, the Palestinians :)

@wishforthenight Very probably -- until the first thing the Arabs nations did was try to exterminate Israel and the Israelis in 1947.
@ChipmunkErnie Of course, of course. Israel did nothing at all :) Literally the land of milk and honey. Peaceful partition of Jerusalem, as they promised. No illegal settlements anywhere. Peace loving happy, laughing citizens of the world.
