Interesting question. I'm pretty sure if you surveyed voters it would come down pretty close to the vote in the last Presidential election and I doubt anyone is actually surprised about the second one at this point.

Graft is, after all, the real motivation behind everything Trump is involved in, and immigration just happens to appeal to voters he can easily win over.

It's not like he'd have been happy about paying more for Melania for example.
