This is upsetting but it's good to know what they thought at the time
It's interesting to see how ignorant this person really was and that her childhood was so decent that she likely didn't see what her slave owner father did on the down low. I think it's good to know this perspective but it is upsetting at how innocent she sounds when we know that back then people for lynched if you reported white people to the police. It reminds me that there really was a certain degree of ignorance going on. If you live in a totally seperate world and you believed your father was the best person on the planet then that's your perspective.
But the reality is that some of these "good white folk" were murdering black people on the DL and reading a book to their daughters at night.
