Mental health, homelessness, crime, poverty, education, etc, are all complex problems with complex solutions that interplay.

I'm not a huge fan of either party or of the right or the left. But I'd take either one over, let's do what feels good in our gut and blame it all on someone else, get our rocks off from their suffering, and wonder why we're not getting better from the snake oil salesman telling us to believe only him and not the educated folks he tells us are part of a conspiracy against us.

@MistyCee the population has reasons to develop social housing, food, education and medical care. That's a leftist goal. The population lacks a leftist movement.

@Roundandroundwego Indeed, I wish we had leaders who could genuinely work better at improving all those things, and getting the population to see it and vote for them to do it.

But we don't, and we've got to work with what we've got, including the educational system which allows people to think with their bowels instead of their heads. Or their wallets, as opposed to their bank accounts and their children's bank accounts and lives in some cases.

@MistyCee the media owned by US oligarchs controls the population in new ways, and their Overton window isn't authentic like you would expect from a rich, modernized population. They're not doing politics at all. They're using the received view from media pros directed by people who also served in the security state in Washington and own media corporations as well as weapons corporations. They can make Americans desire and commit wars for the weapons they choose to sell, currently. They decided. Americans desire. Wars and genocide are being committed.
