If You’re Anything Like Me… Let’s Re-Event the Left
If you’re anything like me, you’ve been called “left-wing” your whole life. You care about justice, equality, and making the world a better place. But lately… you’ve been feeling a little uneasy. Maybe the movement you once felt part of isn’t quite the movement you imagined. Maybe it feels fractured, extreme, or just plain joyless at times. Don’t feel bad. You’re not alone.
We need a re-evented left. Not a far-left, not a “centrist” left, but a groovy left. A left that welcomes people, ideas, and weirdness. A left that is inclusive not just in theory, but in spirit. A left that spreads peace, fun, and creativity, alongside empathy and activism.
And here’s the thing: this isn’t about policy papers or Twitter fights. We can grow this groovy left in everything we do. Art, music, puppetry, storytelling, gatherings—whatever sparks joy and connection. Politics alone won’t make this shift happen. Culture does.
For instance, I’m currently working on a trippy puppet show called Mystic Dippy. The show is my attempt to channel messages of peace, love, and community through weirdness, a little spookiness, and a lot of grooviness. It isn’t political in the usual sense—there are no lectures, no debates—but it is about influence through joy, imagination, and good faith. That’s the kind of left I want to build: a left that doesn’t feel like a burden but like an invitation.
Re-eventing the left isn’t about abandoning principles. It’s about recasting them in a way that feels alive, welcoming, and downright fun. It’s about creating spaces and experiences where people feel safe, inspired, and free to explore. A left that isn’t just a set of rules or ideologies, but a groovy culture that draws people in, rather than pushing them away.
So, if you’ve been feeling frustrated with the mainstream left, if you’ve been wishing for something less rigid and more radiant, take heart. We can start the groovy left ourselves—one puppet show, one song, one community experiment at a time. It’s out there waiting for us to create it.
Peace, love, and trippy vibes,

@weirdbeatnik, have you considered moving away from labels like "Left" and "Right" and concentrating more on a message which isn't politically charged in such divisive ways?
@ArtieKat the USA can find its left in politics or collapse, maybe get crushed by the rest! You ate free. We understand it's not going to be politics! So good riddance. Bye! I hope it's a grand explosion.
@ArtieKat course not. The West is a brutal murder empire, the empire of lies. No way you know what that means cuz you are getting so much outa the murders that you call foreign policy, the deaths from poverty at home! You are fully correct. Carry on. Right and center together! No exit. Off with y'all.
