My state has the 8th highest violent crime rate in the country. My town where I live is in the 93rd percentile.
That means almost 19 out of 20 places in the US are safer to live than where I do.

Maybe it's not about crime rates at all. Maybe it's about making citizens getting used to the presence of armed forces in the streets.

@wishforthenight Depends on the ratio of population in the city vs the rest of the state. It might be the only city in the state. The rest might be small towns. Some states have very low population.
