Why is still allowed in many states for minors to marry with parental, guardian, or judicial permission?

Only a few states have completely banned child marriage ( I.e. marriage before the age of 18) where are our progressive values?

I believe in protecting our children. I fully support those laws.

@calicuz what are children? 18 you can die for your country.
At 16 years old I made enough money to support a wife. Better than the military did when I married.

@Baremine

You were still a child.

@calicuz I was old enough to die for my country and old enough to know who I loved and old enough to make a commitment that has lasted almost 58 years. Don't give me that child bs

@Baremine

That was literally 55 to 60 years ago, you generation had to grow up sooner. Our children these days do not need that pressure, we need to educate our children.

@calicuz but the biological clock hasn't changed.

But the maturity level has.

@calicuz I don't think I agree but not worth arguing about. I think the military makes you grow up quick. If I had it to do over again I would have found a way to have married a year sooner. It would have saved a lot of headaches.

I agree, not worth arguing over, and I apologize if it sounded that way. So when was the US military enlisting 16 yr old boys.

@calicuz it is susposedly 18. In WW2 some got in early.
