Why are anti lgbtqia laws on the books in many states?

For example conversion therapy is still legal in many states.
A gay or trans person can be refused service
An intersex child can still be operated on and medically tortured to normalize their genitalia
Agencies can refuse gay couples adopting children etc.
I mean even if you don’t agree with lgbtqia + what happened to treating everyone with love and equality?
And why can’t certain people just keep their opinions to themselves?
Also protections for non binary, intersex, and trans people on legal documents have been rescinded under the trump administration where it states you can only keep your birth sex on your documents and only male or female options

Right wing extremism is a strong force in the US and that community has been an easy scapegoat for the last 100 years.

They also have no power to fight back.

Pretty simple really.
