Russian military aircraft detected off Alaska

Over the past week, American F-16 fighters have been dispatched twice -- once on Aug. 21 and once on Aug. 20 -- to intercept Russian Il-20 aircraft operating in the Alaska ADIZ. They intercepted a Russian aircraft in the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone for the third time in the past week, NORAD said in a statement. The Russian Il-20 surveillance and reconnaissance was operating in the Alaskan ADIZ. It remained in international airspace and did not enter American or Canadian airspace, NORAD said in its statement. "This Russian activity in the Alaskan ADIZ occurs regularly and is not seen as a threat," it added.

So, why on earth are we intercepting Russian aircrafts for?

You think we should let them do flyovers of US airspace?

The Russians were never in US airspace. We are doing to them what we complain about to China when they shadow our navy ships in the South China Sea which is the Defense Identification Zone to the Chinese.

Forget the Russians and the Chinese. We cannot afford to strut like them anymore. You don't believe that our national debt is real, do you?
@sree251 No, our national debt is not real. For example, it's being paid off all the time whenever someone cashes a US savings bond. Also, a significant portion of it is one part of the government owing money to another part. Finally, as long as we have inflation, the debt will be paid back in cheaper future dollars. The national debt will only be a problem if the US goes through a prolonged period of deflation.

It's interesting how the national debt and the deficit are only problems during Democratic administrations (when they tend to go down) but not during Republican administrations. Trump has added more to the debt than any president in history.

Is your credit card debt real? I have to pay it off every month with money that pays for food, clothing and utility bills.
