That's "per capita", meaning "divided by overall population" - the UK has 1/5th the US murder rate by population.
The US has about 5 murders per 100,000 population, the UK has about 1 murder per 100,000 population.
Now, show me that you can be mature and say "thank you" for someone bothering to give you a basic education on how statistics work for international comparisons.
@SumKindaMunster now that is rich... do ya think the proud boys or other white power groups will give up there guns.. i think not. Many far-right groups, including the Proud Boys, use fearmongering and conspiracy theories in an attempt to stop any reform of gun laws.

Plus you overlook and ignore the following:
- Homicide rates actually rose for a few years after the ban, peaking around 2003, before declining again. That suggests the ban alone didn’t immediately reduce overall violent crime. - A massive increase in police presence—about 20,000 officers added around the early 2000s—coincided with the drop in homicide rates. - Socioeconomic factors, improved emergency medical care, and community policing strategies also played key roles in reducing crime. - Knife crime, for instance, has remained a persistent issue, showing that violence can shift forms even when guns are restricted.
