@BrandNewMan What changed: After the 1964 Civil Rights Act, many white, conservative Southern Democrats became Republicans. The South had been mostly Democratic before 1964; it was mostly Republican after (Although on the local level it continued to be heavily democratic for decades).
@BrandNewMan my personal thought on slavery.. i know it was here in the usa while i did not have or own a slave . i do see such a thing a wage slaves.. ones who make so little as to be almost owned by a company.. what do you think of slavery ?
@wildland all things change.. tho some remain the same.. this was in the 1990s It’s been more than two decades since an infamous hate crime in East Texas, where three white men were convicted of chaining a black man to the back of a pickup truck, dragging him for miles and then dumping the remains of his body in front of a church. it seems you are what you learn as a child ..

@markinkansas Slavery was/is wrong .. not a US only thing. The reality .. European countries started the slave trade into the colonies before the US existed as a country. Slavery was going on well before those times .. in ~ every historical civilization .. and continues today elsewhere in the world. Native tribes globally have enslaved each other. Native Africans helped capture other native Africans and sell then into slavery. That is still happening today within Africa
Are you fighting any of that .. or just pursuing less than honest political agendas here?
@BrandNewMan i think both sides need to stand back.. get rid of big money and that would help.. the lobbyist . and put the elections as one person on vote.. just a thought
@markinkansas That would help. Better candidates would too, they all have some pros/cons but we need more oriented toward the middle than the fringes/extremes.
@BrandNewMan the drift is like a clock pendulum it goes right and then left and by damn it needs to stop in the middle.. i think trump might have broken that cycle tho. to the good or bad . we will find out in about 6 months.. may we live in interesting times .. that last part was a curse
@markinkansas Their whole agenda is about pushing their rights ahead of others. To unfairly compete against bio women in sport, to be in women's restrooms broadly, including locker rooms, for society to pay for their surgeries and therapy, to go along with the pronoun business to the extent its a crime to "misgender" ...
Who else in society gets such preferential treatment .. much at the expense of others rights?
