I’m a white dude!

@Bumbles why are you white?
Bumbles · 56-60, M
@basilfawlty89 Just born into it I guess?

@Bumbles would you say the intolerance to spice and cilantro, and fondness of mayonnaise is genetic or cultural?
Bumbles · 56-60, M
@basilfawlty89 I’m Jewish and live in Los Angeles so no mayo and lots of cilantro!

@Bumbles *writes down*
But you have been quiet about chilli peppers, why is that?

@basilfawlty89 No one asked? Had Mexican takeout Thursday, though.

@Bumbles I asked about spices above...tsk rsk
*makes a cross on that section*

@basilfawlty89 The salsa burned thanks to the chili peppers, Bro.

@Bumbles
@basilfawlty89 I am kind of both. Metis so technically biracial but you would never know it to look at me.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I know. My dad's side is Mexican. Grandad was full on Indigenous from Durango. Mum's side is Irish and Scottish though.

But we all know stereotypes aren't accurate!

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I know.
I'm by no means an expert on the struggle of Indigenous Canadians, but I know about the residential school horrors.

Mexicans are a bit more chill.
Do get called Miklo often though.
@basilfawlty89 My great grandparents did the whole "pioneer" thing in a Red River cart following a Catholic priest around which from what little I can find would now give off culty vibes.

It is likely because they never settled anywhere too long and their kids could "pass" that the indian residential schools were not part of my direct family history. Plenty of Metis kids ended up getting snatched too.

Unfortunately my great grandfather was actually very much the stereotype and a crook. Which is probably why my great grandmother dumped him somewhere along the trail and left without him. His reputation was bad enough though that when my mom's family was stationed in some of the same towns in the military that they should keep that branch of the family out of discussion with people in town.
@basilfawlty89 Oh and the same great grandmother also was a bootlegger in the 40s. 😂
@basilfawlty89 To give you an idea of some of what is going on here with indigenous people and the white majority can be equated to the South African TRC. In fact they even copied the Truth and Reconciliation name with the same flaws in the approach.
