Is it possible, just possible…

That whoever we elect into power comes from exactly the same private club every time?
I mean politicians just toe the line with whoever finances their election campaigns - these could be the same people irrespective of the political party, so it’s a win win for them.

I mean, is democracy really democracy? Who makes the rules then? We’ve got an entire Parliamentary House in the UK (The House of Lords) which is 100% unelected. It seems that their political persuasions go out of the window once they’ve got their feet under that table, with a whole load of other Lords coming from business and wealth. Sometimes I genuinely wonder if it really matters who I vote for.

@Oneofthestormboys Liberals do not (a) really know what the term DEMOCRACY means and (b) do not really trust the democratic process.

When they suggest that Democracy is threatened, that usually means they are about to not get their way. Why else would those Nazis always turn to the courts when they don't get their NATIONAL SOCIALISM through Congress?

I’m seeing all the usual “left and right” stuff here, but what I’m saying is that does it really matter? The Americans are now fighting among themselves, so who really gains from that? I’d suggest someone who’s been in power for ages, and whose political opponents tend to get incarcerated, fall out of hotel windows or get shot down in their private jets “by mistake”. This is a country with almost unlimited resources, doesn’t treat its own citizens particularly well, and tends to centralise its wealth in very few places. Or am I totally wrong?

Every single democracy should enact laws to prevent donations to political parties, and remove all loopholes, to prevent someone like Musk from using non-monetary assets to affect elections.

I would sure love to see a system in the USA, where the state provides an equal sum of money to each candidate to campaign as the see fit, and that's it.

@Northwest It does make me wonder where the money REALLY comes from.
It seems to me that the only real winners under any political party are the rich and powerful. Most of them hardly pay any tax either due to various loopholes put in place for them. That’s why the British and American Virgin Islands exist after all.
