Ted Cruz says that those who bless Israel will be blessed.

So Israel was formed in 1948. The US has been its staunchest ally and therefore should be blessed. Is the US better off today than it was in 1948? Obviously technology has advanced but has the US been blessed? Rampant drug use and homelessness, Rampant crime in the major cities, Overt racism, Families in complete chaos. Divorce rate beyond belief. Baby killing on a whim. Some parts of the US are bringing in euthanasia. Endless stupid wars. If that is blessing.......

I'm assuming this is someone trying to misapply something in the Old Testament to today. I also wish Christians would keep to a sound doctrine on Israel when there is discussion on a remnant. It is not talking about a bit of land on the east side of the med but Jews coming to faith.

@Thinkingdeeper The 'Remnant' is believing Christians.

Maybe because Ted Cruz was spewing propaganda rather than the US be blessed and that blessed is such a vague religious concept that it doesn't make sense in the first place?

First, saying the US is blessed for supporters israel is like saying we'll be blessed because we helped starve Palestinian children. That's something to be blessed over? Saying blessed is an appeal to religion which makes supporting Israel appealing to religious nut jobs.

Secondly, suppose a woman was brutally murdered, was she blessed? That's why it's a vague concept, it seems like everyone is blessed until they're not. And when people are born into horrible situations, blessed is such a weird term for this reason
It's been true since 1948. Americans who think differently are leftists, outcasts, the enemy.

@hippyjoe1955 certainly, not. But I get to live in the truck. Anti war and pro human rights people like myself are definitely not represented in anything.

@jshm2 Agreed. The nation that calls itself Israel is not the Israel of the Bible. The Israel of the Bible is the church. Israel always was a faith group and not a gene pool. When the descendants of Abraham broke their covenant relationship God wrote a New One in His own Blood and in doing so removed any sense of genes or social status. The really funny thing is the whole idea of 'Blessing Israel" started with the 'study bible' of one Cyrus Scofield. Scofield was not a theologian. He was a common con man who had spent time in jail for fraud. Somehow he became a member of a very very exclusive men's club in NYC and was given a contract to write his 'bible' before he had written it by Oxford Press. Oxford press had never done that before so what happened that Scofield was given a huge sum of money for something he hadn't written yet? The strangeness of that study bible goes on and on and on. The net effect of that study bible was the elimination of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the worship of a nation that calls itself Israel. Now I wonder who was behind the creation and publishing said book.

@Diotrephes I wonder how many pro Zionist Christians would remain pro Zionist if they read the Talmud.
