Where do you fall on the political spectrum?

Just took a pretty good political typology quiz and feel like this is pretty accurate for me

I'm around -9.5 -9

Wow you broke the scale comrade.

Economic Left/Right: -7.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.38

OK Jerry, you win. I guess I am the moderate end of the radical left. ;-)

When I say anarchist I means it! That said it's been a couple years since I've done the compass.
ironsides · 22-25, M
@TyphoidJerry: to be more specific, are you Anarcho-Capitalist or Anarcho-Socialist
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Phantasmagoria: He's Anarcho-Anarchist. 😜
CaptainCanadia · 41-45, M
Socialist; syndicalist to specify. I don't think anarchism and capitalism are compatible.
ironsides · 22-25, M
@TyphoidJerry: I've listened to some anarcho-capitalist speakers and while I am a Social Darwinist and Capitalist I think it works well in theory but skeptical about in practice

Well the issue is that economic power = political power, which is what I feel ancaps and libertarians miss. If you "win" at the game of capitalism, you don't just get money, you get influence over society and direct control of the people who work for you. So you just replace tyranny by the state with tyranny by the boss.

If you eliminate the state and have a capitalist free for all a plutocracy is inevitable.
ironsides · 22-25, M
@TyphoidJerry: I do agree and many anarch caps say that well the worker can just switch to a different employer but I think history has shown us that it's not always that simple

Utterly correct. Libertarian capitalists see all state power as coercive but somehow see corporate power as politically neutral. Some of the more honest and intelligent radical libertarians admit that you would need private armies in such a society. That says it all really. In such a world, the only consequential rights would be the rights of property and actual individual rights would be trampled on. I would imagine it looking a bit like the Robocop movie where the police are on strike because their corporation won't pay them enough.

@Burnley123: I'm in the mindset of a classical Liberal where the government provides Police, Courts, and Army though I will admit I do have to sort out where I lie in that spectrum since that is a very general and grey area
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Phantasmagoria: You are young and there is time. What I would advise though is to look into the effects that classic liberal policies have. All the best.
ironsides · 22-25, M
@Burnley123: thank you and that is what I try to do see the effects of every political ideology unfortunately there isn't just 1 perfect one is there?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Phantasmagoria: Nothing is perfect and that is why it is important to question everything. Power has many different facets. Good debate. All the best.
CaptainCanadia · 41-45, M
@Phantasmagoria: Yep, they're all flawed. I see my own beliefs as a way to look at and analyze society, and also carry myself personally - rather than as a perfect world. But YMMV.
ironsides · 22-25, M
@TyphoidJerry: basically when it comes down to it my core belief is the first amendment. I feel people should be able to think or say whatever they want without punishment
CaptainCanadia · 41-45, M
The classic test for that is yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded theatre.
ironsides · 22-25, M
@TyphoidJerry: I do feel something that puts people in danger should be limited. I don't know how familiar with it you are but I do like the non-aggression principle however it's quite new to me so I'm not well versed in it
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@TyphoidJerry: Freedom of Speech won't feed my children. You and I are rolling out all the cliches tonight Jerry. 😜
