I believe in social programs, but not Socialism. I believe a good government "does for the people what the people can not do for themselves collectively." Hence feeding the poor, including making sure underprivileged children do not go to bed hungry.

Both Reagan and Trump completely demolished that theory. Both presidents' policies had expanded the economy so much that the poor got jobs and moved up the ladder. The Middle Class moved up to rich. There were so many jobs that companies had to offer a lot more money to attract workers. That's an economy that lifts ALL boats.
The Trump economy was so good that it took (a) the Obama Virus) and (b) the MILLIONS of illegal aliens and Biden INFLATION to tank Trump's historic numbers.
