Socialist is a word than MAGAts and extreme righties want to use to denigrate Democrats. Real democrats are not socialists. We are capitalists who believe that capitalism needs more controls because our existing laws favor the wealthy and unequally funnel money to them (who by the way own the lawmakers).
You only need one example to demonstrate that what I said is true: The top 144 individuals in America own more wealth than the bottom 155,000,000 people.

@emiliya Well, just to start:
Make the tax code more progressive by adjusting capital gains tax rates to be in line with income tax rates. This would aim to prevent investment income from having special privileges over income earned through work.
Higher progressive tax on higher income. Those who reap the most benefits available to Americans contribute the most back.
Raise the federal minimum wage to a living wage could help low-income workers afford basic necessities which would also increase revenue.
Strengthen Labor Unions by ending laws that weaken them.
Free community college for all.
Zero interest student loans which would be forgiven after graduation. .

@MoveAlong The truth is 35-40% of Americans pay NO federal income tax. How is that fact affected by anything else? If paying ZERO .. how can the share anyone else pays affect you .. keeping in mind many of that group receive more in refund than they paid in ??
If it is in the tax code as allowed write offs, deductions, etc .. its not cheating to use them. I take every penny in deduction I can defend .. why would anyone not do that to the full extent allowed?
I'm not averse to some changes .. but when will it ever be enough for the jealous lot that think its their right to perpetually take from the reward of other's efforts rather than go earn a better way in life themselves?

@MasterLee You people are so misinformed. Trump didn't release any taxes. It's easy to see how they can get you to vote for them.
In May 2019, Ways and Means Committee chair Richard Neal requested six years of Trump's tax records; after appeals were exhausted, he received the documents on November 30, 2022. Four weeks later, the committee voted 24–16 along party lines to release the returns to the public, which was done on December 30. The committee found that the IRS failed to audit Trump's taxes during the first two years of his presidency, and that the only audit conducted during his tenure was never completed
Below are the tax amounts trump paid during those years. This man claimed to be a multi billionaire at the time.
2015: $641,931
2016: $750
2017: $750
2018: Nearly $1 million
2019: $133,445
2020: $0

@emiliya @emiliya I don't know where I would place the line for "higher Income". I can tell you that when Donald Trump made multibillions and paid about $2.5M over 5 years that would definitely qualify as a higher income person not paying their fair share.
I don't have socialist ideas. I have liberal ideas.

@MoveAlong What's WRONG with that statement is referring to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN folk (which make up the vast majority of America ) as extreme righties. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN is the ONLY centrists in America. The few radicals on the left think ANYTHING to the right of Che Guevara or Adolf Hitler is somehow extreme right wing.
Most of America knows better.
