SW Should Give Authors an Option to Block ALL Replies to a Post ...

I post this because of a simple disagreement with @Thinkerbell over which president was the first to launch military strikes against Iran. (she had said Trump; I had said it was Reagan)

I didn't take any offense to her responses. But because of the back-and-forth, SW's automated system threatened to punish us both!

As this occured on one of MY posts, I'd hate to see myself, @Thinkerbell or ANYONE penalized who might stumble onto respond.

So, how to stop that from happening, allow the post author to automatically stop ALL further replies from ANYONE.

I as well believe a option should be made for a comment author to be able to close their own comment to others but the OP.

This is doable really. Comments are a higher priority than replies already. Why you can give a link to comments and not replies:
