The Iran government is the worst and other governments or quasi governments cooperating with them are by definition bad. That is all one needs to know.

@georgelong NO! You may be correct about the Iranian government. But that is not all one needs to know. One needs to know how much harm removing the regime will do to the people and how much it will cost both sides in money, men and material.. And onc eneeds to know what you will replece it with and how it will work..One needs to know all that and more...😷

No one has suggested that regime change occur unless done by the Iranian citizens themselves which would be quite healthy. It’s their right. It’s not the right of outsiders. @whowasthatmaskedman

The US did zero to assist the fundamentalist Muslim government. Try again after you get your facts straight. @markinkansas

DEAD WRONG!!!

The US did Iran the biggest favor of this century! Iran and Iraq held each other in a stalemate and were wasting tremendous amounts of resources fighting on their border.

And then the US essentially wiped the Iraqi military off the map, freeing up Iran to grow their economy and export terrorism. Nobody did Iran a bigger favor than George W. Bush. He failed to consider the consequences of his attacks on Iraq, and the world has been paying the price ever since.

Obama made a ten-year (at least) deal with Iran to lift most sanctions in exchange for full inspections to prevent U235 high level enrichment. tRump blew up that deal 3 years later, imposed sanctions, and claimed he could make a better deal. tRump failed, and Iran has been enriching U235 ever since, leading to the current crisis with Israel.

Thus, we unfortunately own a big piece of the mess that the Middle East, and particularly Iran, has become.

So Obama lied then? @ElwoodBlues

So Obama lied then?

No, as I said, tRump blew up Obama's Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, then reinstated U.S. sanctions on Iran. Iran kept their word until tRump broke the deal.
https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/briefings-statements/president-donald-j-trump-ending-united-states-participation-unacceptable-iran-deal/

tRump did this in May 2018, and without the deal in place, Iran limited inspections and began digging deeper bunkers and enriching U235. tRump never made an alternate deal, and Iran has been enriching U235 deep under a mountain for the last seven years.

Dr Ernest J. Moniz, former MIT nuclear physics professor, Belfer Center senior fellow; CEO of the Nuclear Threat Initiative; former U.S. secretary of Energy, and lead technical negotiator of the Iran nuclear deal, released this statement soon after tRump blew up the JCPOA.
President Trump’s decision today to withdraw from the Iranian nuclear deal is a major strategic mistake that not only damages the United States’ ability to prevent Iran from acquiring the material for a nuclear weapon, but also impairs our ability to prevent the spread and use of nuclear weapons, to work with allies and partners on issues of global concern, and to protect our interests in the Middle East for years, if not decades, to come. The Iran nuclear deal rolled back Iran’s nuclear program and imposed uniquely stringent monitoring and verification measures — the most important elements of which were permanent — to prevent the country from ever developing a bomb. The United States is now in violation of the terms of the deal without offering a credible alternative. The Iran deal is and has always been about depriving Iran of the nuclear materials — highly enriched uranium and plutonium — needed to make a weapon. As international inspectors, who have been on the ground every day since the deal was concluded, have confirmed: The Iran agreement has accomplished this. The fact that the advice of this nation’s most-important allies was ignored in this decision adds to the consequence of the president’s decision. Remaining in the agreement was very clearly in the U.S. national interest. It’s hard to predict what will unfold from here, but the president has driven a deep wedge between the United States and our allies in Europe and has withdrawn from the process that would allow a comprehensive investigation of the Iran archives recently revealed by Israel.

Didn’t Iran lie repeatedly DURING the Obama agreement? @ElwoodBlues
@georgelong Did they? I'd love to see your evidence. Perhaps you could also report to us on what the international inspectors found during the JCPOA.

BTW, your original suggestion was that Obama may have lied. I take it you're abandoning that??
georgelong · 46-50, M
When he said it was ans iron clad treaty that was false. It was flimsy. @ElwoodBlues
@georgelong Flimsy in what way? Please be specific. Oh, wait, you can only toss around generalities because you can't refute Dr Ernest J. Moniz, former MIT nuclear physics professor, Belfer Center senior fellow; CEO of the Nuclear Threat Initiative; former U.S. secretary of Energy, and lead technical negotiator of the Iran nuclear deal.

As lead technical negotiator, Dr Moniz was making sure the treaty was verifiable; that inspectors could make technical measurements to confirm compliance or violation of the treaty terms. Parts of the deal expired ten years after signing; other parts extended longer.

And the expectation was that as Iranian society tasted the benefits of life without sanctions they would see advantages to extending the deal and keeping the western tech coming. So the ten year horizon was just a starting place.

Yep, the current regional war ties directly in to tRump's Iran deal blunder. And tRump's current negotiating tactic - demanding unconditional surrender - seems calculated to keep Iran's leadership fighting desperately for its life.
georgelong · 46-50, M
The Obama deal was never enforced and designed to end up with Iran having nukes. @ElwoodBlues
@georgelong And your evidence? What did the IAEA reports say?? Oh wait, you don't have any evidence. Just lies. How sad!!

The funny thing here is that you completely misrepresented tRump's objections to Obama's JCPOA🤣😂
You've been busily elaborating on a transparent lie🤣😂
