Americans, you have guns to protect yourselves against a tyrannical government, right?

Then I expect you will be out in force keeping the people of Los Angeles safe.

Unless you were lying this whole time.

Yes, they should in theory.
In truth, their "tyranny" is more
"Obammers wuz black and takin our guns"
Which...no, regulations aren't the same as banning.

Furthermore, the military swears an Oath to defend thr Constitution first, before the president or superiors.
If a soldier complies with an illegal act according to the Constitution, they have broken their Oath.
@basilfawlty89 the president also swore an oath and look what that means... It remains to be seen what an oath in the military means...

@NerdyPotato oh indeed.

Rather, what I mean that if your oath is broken as a public servant, you no longer legitimately hold that position.

In short, if the military acts in congruence with Trump instead of the Constitution and other branches of government, it is effectively a coup.

@NerdyPotato Most of today’s antiwar voices actually come from people who served in the military. During the Iraq War, many troops didn’t support the mission but followed orders anyway, out of fear of what would happen if they didn’t. General Petraeus had a nickname: “General Betray-Us."

There are many people in the military who don’t agree with the government, but they can’t speak out. That’s why so many develop PTSD or carry guilt over actions they didn't agree with. Given the military’s strict chain of command, it’s hard for soldiers to disobey orders. They know the consequences of insubordination.
@Jokersswild that's what I'm afraid of in this situation too, and it becomes only more difficult when the high ranks are replaced by people who are loyal to the president and care as little about the constitution as he does.
