Wow 24 year old Democrat in South Carolina won

I love love love this, faith in humanity restored ❤ even though I don't trust our system at all. I mean severely so, it's bad but this is good news at least

Just one State legislator really isn't much. If it was more than one then that would mean something.

You have to figure in just how many a state legislator actually represents . It's definitely under 500 thousand in a big state.

@DeWayfarer On the other hand, it's often at the legislative level where policies are enacted, or not...
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@iamthe99 Again it depends on the leaning of the state. South Carolina is a strong Republican state.

Why it needs to be more than a few.
iamthe99 · M
@DeWayfarer It's a small win, but a win nonetheless.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@iamthe99 Majorities are weird situations when it comes to the electorates.

Winner takes all is why.

Why I dislike the electorial college. It's geared towards republics rather than democracy.

@DeWayfarer we are picking up special election wins all over the state, but this was the biggest so far. We’re fighting hard!!
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@TheShanachie Please don't consider two town counsels apart of a state legislature.

The real test will be in November anyway for South Carolina
TheShanachie · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer please don’t doom us yet, I’m here and on the ground. I’m not arguing against the power of the GOP, but we have more Democrats in this state than most people know. This attitude I see of “they cannot” doesn’t help us, the GOP applauds that attitude. My County went blue in the 2024 election, without the Electoral College and extreme Gerrymandering we have SC would have a strong likelihood of going totally blue.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@TheShanachie I'm not about doom and gloom. I'm being realistic here

The cities is not where it's at though. Nor is it about large metropolitan areas. It's totally about the Gerrymandering of the rural areas with the urban areas.

With voter takes all Republicans have the advantage! Until Democrats understand this electoral process you're not going to get anywhere.

It's not about the urban areas!

You want to do something? Convince the poor rural people! The poor there are reliant on the wealthy! They will either go for the people that keep them employed or they just won't vote!

And the wealthy know this. The MAGA crowd are not in the cities!

They want their guns, they want the lack of rules and they can't do that in the cities!

When a rural district area of just few thousand people gets a electorial vote when a urban district has 50 thousand only get the same one electoral vote, there's a huge disadvantage.

Now take winner takes all!
TheShanachie · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer so we by your view are not welcome in the Democratic Party so bye.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@DeWayfarer That's okay. I'm still happy about it and will celebrate victories. There's other Democrats flipping conservative districts too.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SatanBurger Please listen. I'm not happy that Trump won his elections twice!

I'm furious about it. And the reason why he won twice is because of electorial college rigging!

You want the Republicans to win again? Well the above is how they are doing it!
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@SatanBurger what percentage is Democratic to Republican in us and UK? who has more I don't know but I'm curious to
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@WowwGirl I don't know I'd have to look it up later. I'll do that in a few
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@WowwGirl problem is more the lack of voting. Trump won with only 48% of the votes.
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@DeWayfarer then the electorial pushed it up?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@WowwGirl YES!
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@DeWayfarer I understand that part tu
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
