According to the office of national statistics 130,641 deaths occurred in the UK from treatable or preventable illnesses in 2021/2022. Our population is pretty small compared to the US

@meJess I wonder why?

Most of the "preventable" ones does suggest very many individuals not trying to look after themselves, so self-inflicted really. Despite all the free information and publicity, too.

@ArishMell lack of available care or access to care, long waiting times etc. are all listed as causes. Not seeking medical attention was not a part of the findings so those figures would be in addition.

@meJess Those are serious failings, and must be addressed. I read the OP as no service in the first place, irrespective of its quality.

@ArishMell US providers must give emergency service to all regardless of insurance. How that is covered in practice is unclesr

@meJess Not funded from general taxation?

@meJess No, I don't know either - nor whether it is a national or State-level matter.

@meJess if the person has no money, welfare pays for it, welfare is paid by every state, which comes from taxes
