Leftist Hasan Piker detained and questioned about his anti Trump views on social media

They even repeated rumors that were found online not to be true. Eventually he got released and will continue with social media, Hasan believes they're trying to scare people from having opinions about Trump. As you know Maga are true patriots and will be totally outraged over freedom of speech being violated (sarcasm)

I'm okay with national security being concerned about Hasans' content. Just like I'm okay with them being concerned about any other demagogue that peddles snake oil.

The sad thing is... that with this administration, the sword doesn't cut both ways.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Kwek00 Unless you're giving dangerous advice or there's some type of security threat, not liking trump isn't enough to interrogate someone.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@SatanBurger Some of his conent is pro-extremist, and during a podcast from a couple of years ago he openly admitted that his goal was to radicalise people. So yeah, if your nation-security does its work, he should be on the radar. 🤷‍♂
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Kwek00 Yeah so is everyone else that doesn't like Trump, meaning they questioned him solely on the grounds that he doesn't like Trump. They've tried going through random civilians phones, this has everything to do with not liking the administration
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@SatanBurger No... Hassan has a bit of a diffrent profile SB. But again, I still believe this excessive and one sided. But it's a good target. If you start defending this guy, they are just going to portray his personal content. There is some damning stuff in there, and then people will white wash this action because this case feels justified. That's the tactic now a days.

@Kwek00 I asked ChatGPT and still maintain my stance that pulling someone in for anti Trump views is unwarranted.

Hasan Piker has addressed the perception that he "radicalizes" people, particularly youth, toward leftist ideologies. In a 2024 interview with Dazed, he discussed how anti-capitalist sentiments are often misunderstood due to longstanding propaganda. He emphasized that advocating for policies like universal healthcare and free college is frequently mischaracterized as radical, even though such policies are standard in many countries.

Piker stated:

"The social democratic legislation that I advocate for is bastardised. That’s one of the most misunderstood aspects of my commentary."

In a 2023 podcast appearance, Piker reflected on the impact of his words, particularly regarding a past controversial comment about 9/11. He acknowledged that his intentions were misunderstood and that the comment led to serious consequences, including threats and media attention. He expressed a realization about the potential harm his words could cause and the importance of clear communication.

While Piker's content is designed to challenge prevailing narratives and encourage critical thinking about systemic issues, he does not explicitly state that his goal is to radicalize individuals. Instead, he positions his work as an effort to shift public discourse and advocate for progressive policies, aiming to foster a more informed and equitable society.

@SatanBurger What part of what I said, disagrees with that? When I say: he needs to be on the radar, I mean, that he should be monitored. It's excessive and one side. But he's a great target if you want to push the overturn window more to the right. I just wonder how much you can push it for people start figuring out that if you are not on the street protesting en masse, you won't have an honest election in 2027.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Kwek00 Any mention of ANYTHING liberal or even remotely leftist leaning pushes specifically Americans to the right. In most other countries are a mix of capitalism and leftism, they've already got UBI on a smaller scale, 4 day working weeks and universal health care for quite a long time. It's just specifically Americans and only American besides North Korea and far right leaning countries that just really refuses to.

You can't even mention nothing regarding immigrants, LGBTQ+ communities, black communities you cannot even talk about anything that isn't right leaning will push them over the edge.

So what's the solution? Things need to be talked about.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Kwek00 That's also what I'm scared of is no honest election in 2027, I hope we're going to have someone different

@SatanBurger
@Kwek00 Any mention of ANYTHING liberal or even remotely leftist leaning pushes specifically Americans to the right.

Considering a lot of polls I've seen through the years, this isn't true.
You aren't going to convert the hardcore base, that is somewhere between 23-33%, if you read a bunch of diffrent authors and what they are measuring. If you take the extreme of that number, and take 33%, that means that there are still a lot of people that can vote diffrently.

But some people don't vote. And there are still people that believe that this is the moment for 3th parties. If the canadian guy didn't block me, I could give you a similair worlds story talking about how it was all the fault of the democrats. Not that I'm saying that the democrats don't have issues... but I would have voted for a potplant, to keep what is in power now out of the white house. I guess some people weren't paying attention enough or not happy enough because they couldn't get all that they wanted.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Kwek00 From what I know about people I feel like it's true, you hear all the time about "leaving the left" and other stuff but if you hear their reasoning, it's entirely based on feelings, not logic. I just feel like a lot of people don't know themselves enough to really engage in politics and people treat it like it's a fad diet, people change positions like they vegan one day and carnivore the next or vice versa.

And right leaning influencers tend to be more aggressive so they get heard more, when leftists are aggressive, it's "oh noes leftists are big meanies."

I love the idea of 3rd parties, I like Andrew Yang personally but because he's an UBI advocate and we'll need something to cover necessities while the rise of technology happens and we figure out what jobs we need people to do and what jobs we can live without.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@SatanBurgerIt's not about "leaving the left"... there are general leftists that didn't vote because of several reasons. The biggest one seems to be the position that the democrats took in the Israel-Gaza conflict. And then you have a bunch that just believe that the democrats needed to do more for their voice. That last part, I'm agreeing with. And it's sad that you can't really punish the democrats because the alternative is just incredibly bad. But there are people that believe they had to do it anyway... and now everyone will have to suck it up. And if you guys loose your opportunity to vote this guy out in 2029 and have no opportunity to vote in another legeslative branch in 2027... then your only option is violence. Good luck with that.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@SatanBurger BTW... during work today, I went through Hassans' own account of what actually happened. And after listening to him, I can tell you that this is just a storm in a glass of water. His "detention", is actually just part of normal procedure. He used "Global Entry", ... I had to look up what that means and when you do you find the following in their description:

While Global Entry’s goal is to speed travelers through the process, members may still be selected for further examination when entering the United States. Any violation of the program’s terms and conditions will result in the appropriate enforcement action and termination of the traveler’s membership privileges.

SOURCE: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry

So a number of people are taken out for extra examination. 🤷‍♂

And then... his own personal account becomes sensationalised by his own biasses and opinions. Because Hassan thinks he's so special. I don't see a reason why this would have anything to do with his person at all. BUT even if it has something to do with his person, again, it's okay for national security to have him on the radar exactly because of his own content. Which he literally uses as a reason why they would do this to him. As a citizen of any country, I have no issues with this what so ever. When I first read this story, I thought he was randomly picked up for questioning or something, alas, I was ignorant. He was just traveling by airplane and routine investigation happened. Leave it to a provocateur to milk it like this and leave it up to a left wing echo chamber to blow the story out of proportion. It's sad, because I don't think it has a good image with people you want to convince but are intelligent enough to just listen to what is actually said and what the procedure actually is. But for these people, that doesn't matter, because they are looking for the emo targets that feel over reason anyway.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Kwek00 They are going through people's phones at airports and asking people their opinion of Trump, it doesn't matter as it's not aganist the law to talk bad about Trump and even if it was, that would be wrong.

I'm not saying you believe that but there's more and more people being picked up for anti Trump views. Biden didn't do that to Trump voters
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@SatanBurger I'm not agreeing with checking peoples phones. But, from what I got from Hassan, that's not what happened to him. There is a lot of stuff I don't agree with this administration, so I don't think we need to make stuff up or blow stuff up... it's bad enough already.

Well... no. Biden had a lot of flaws, but he wasn't an authoritarian. The most authoritarian and damning act he did, was use emergency powers to push through a ploy to forgive student debt. I believe he did that twice, and there is at least onel center left organisations that sued him for it. Because that broad center to the moderate left at least still has some selfreflection.
