Did the US once have a policy of splendid isolation, ignoring the rest of the world?

No.

Its attitude towards the rest of the world could be described as mixed, even ambivalent, and sometimes a feeling of superiority even over its friends, but it was neither isolated nor isolationist.

Yes but that was only from 1776-1944. lol

It did before WW 1, but not since.

Isolation WOULD be pleasant. But it's impossible. We either trade with the rest of the world, or we have to spend our tax dollars DEFENDING the rest of the world.

The United States could EASILY provide for its own economy, it's own production facilities, it's own natural resources, it's own energy. Problem is, the US is the ATM and the Police force for the rest of the world.

We're lucky to have a brilliant PRESIDENT TRUMP, who brings a lifetime of successful business practice (THE GUY IS A SELF MADE BILLIONAIRE AT AGE 78) to do the negotiating for America's business interests as well as our security. After two NAZI Democrat presidents (who ass fcking our economy and brought the world closest to WWIII) we really need a brilliant mind like Trump.
