What is the point in blocking someone you politically disagree with?

I like debate and I want to test my opinions against those who have different backgrounds and perspectives. It would be boring if everyone on my friend list always agreed with me. It seems ironic that some of the same people who accuse others of living in an echo chamber are the first to block. I'm not abusive and mild piss-taking is allowed on the internet.

Except you don't debate, you want to argue and then make it personal when you don't win the argument.

You distract with red herrings. You bring up completely irrelevant topics to change the subject. You misrepresent what people have said. And when you start losing the argument you start making assumptions about the person, make it personal, declare yourself right, and strut around like some debate master.

So, yeah, if you're going to be an arrogant douche, some are going to block you. No point whining about it after the fact.

Name one politicised person that you like who has different opinions to you.

@Burnley123: Exhibit A, distraction. Lol

Christina Sommers. Now tell me how that's relevant.
