What is the point in blocking someone you politically disagree with?

I like debate and I want to test my opinions against those who have different backgrounds and perspectives. It would be boring if everyone on my friend list always agreed with me. It seems ironic that some of the same people who accuse others of living in an echo chamber are the first to block. I'm not abusive and mild piss-taking is allowed on the internet.

Those who shout the loudest for tolerance are often the most intolerant. They won't stand for their ideas to be challenged. I have personally foind that those who block, often do because they really can't discuss or debate without personal attacks, they lack facts or knowledge to back up their positions. So, they attack personally and then block because it gives them a feeling of superiority.
