What is the point in blocking someone you politically disagree with?

I like debate and I want to test my opinions against those who have different backgrounds and perspectives. It would be boring if everyone on my friend list always agreed with me. It seems ironic that some of the same people who accuse others of living in an echo chamber are the first to block. I'm not abusive and mild piss-taking is allowed on the internet.

One point would be freeing oneself fron arguments or being upset. Some people here just don't know when to stop and some just log on here to lighten up so arguing with others really defeats their purpose for coming online.

That is a fair point actually but the people who have blocked me are all argumentative. If you give an opinion then you should allow others to disagree IMO.
@Burnley123: yeah, that's how it should be but most people here don't have that much patience and a lot of people us can be a bit childish at certain some point..
