What is the point in blocking someone you politically disagree with?

I like debate and I want to test my opinions against those who have different backgrounds and perspectives. It would be boring if everyone on my friend list always agreed with me. It seems ironic that some of the same people who accuse others of living in an echo chamber are the first to block. I'm not abusive and mild piss-taking is allowed on the internet.

They don't like their beliefs challenged.
Some people might block for that reason but I don't. I do block rude people. I don't think I should have to tolerate rude people just to prove that I'm tolerant or that it doesn't bother me. If something bothers me, it bothers me.

@Lovelldo: Don't think that's what he was referring to.
I'm saying that I don't block people simply because we disagree politically. It is stated in his post as such and I am also replying directly to your comment because I had something to add. There is no disrespect intended.
