I had a manager who taught us how to deal with people who were indecisive or ambiguous about what they wanted.
Make suggestions or show examples that are totally ridiculous and outrageous.
Like florescent pink and green tables with black and red graffiti artwork then maybe they will give you a better idea of what they really wanted.
