Federal Reserve builds a new $2.5 billion clubhouse for itself, as our national debt and interest rates soar . . .

Photo above - Crazy Rich Americans . . . the new Federal Reserve headquarters might have been inspired by "the palace at Versailles, and Donald Trump's bathroom" . . .

Hey . . . Elon . . . you missed one. A DOGE cut opportunity. The new Federal Reserve Headquarters in DC will cost $2.5 Billion – (with a “B”, not million). What’s the monthly payment on that going to be? Let’s do the math . . . zero down, 6.48% mortgage rate, 30-year term. That will be $16 million per month, without property taxes or insurance. Wait . . . we already signed. This was greenlighted in the first year of the Biden administration. Not sure what story the Fed told Congress and the White House to get approval. In any case a $2.5 billion playhouse for an agency that’s torturing aspiring home buyers with high interest rates is a lot of money. Could we shave a little off the new Fedquarters cost by using non-union, undocumented immigrant labor? We can’t? Okay, let’s just move on then.

This could turn out to be the palace that can’t be cancelled, just like Fed Chairman Powell keeps bragging he’s the guy who can’t be fired. Palace isn’t my snark. It’s an exact quote from the MSN link below. They’re comparing the new Fed building to the Palace of Louis the XIV at Versailles, built in 1661. Louie’s playpen cost way LESS than Powell’s, even accounting for inflation. See the link to “if they built it today”, at bottom.

If the Federal Reserve's imitation Palais de Versailles lasts over 300 years, like the original in France, my mind is going to be blown. It would turn out the best government project of all time. But the LAST time taxpayers built a crib for the Fed was 1937. Now it’s evidently not even a fixer upper. That original Fed building cost about $3.4 million of those un-inflated 1937 greenbacks.

How much would that original building cost in modern, 2025 money? $77 million. Its actual replacement palace is an astonishing $2.5 billion. THIRTY TIMES AS MUCH!

If you want to know why America is always broke and deeply in debt, look no further.
