Trump sued over tariffs by obscure organization. Bringing a knife to a gunfight isn’t exactly your "A" game, is it Democrats?

Photo above - World headquarters of the Liberty Justice Center in Austin Texas. Not the whole building. They only have room 1250. Which could be just a mail drop.

Tariffs are finally getting their day in court. But it's not an important court which will be taken seriously. The “Liberty Justice Center” filed suit against President Trump in the “US Court of International Trade”. Yeah . . . I never heard of any of these, either. See links below.

The Liberty Justice Center is a nonprofit and had its 15 minutes of fame in the “Janus” case (2018). This overturned mandatory union due deductions for government employees. (Insert conservative applause track here). LJC is now litigating “Oswego School District” which seeks to ban transgendered men from girls' high school sports, and force them to compete in a separate "anyone can play" division. Apparently to protect the sanctity of biological female high school athletic records.

So the LJC isn't just some fly by night left wing nutjobs. But when you go to their website – or view their annual report – they don’t actually disclose how much money they spend, and where they get it. Hmmm . . . they do ask for donations on their website though. If you want to contact them, they're in room 1250 of the building at top.

Moving on - the US Court of International trade is actually in the constitution – Article 3. It's staffed by 9 judges appointed by the US president. Uh-oh. But wait – 5 of these judges were appointed by either Biden or Obama. Trump only has 3 judges. Over 60 cases have been filed in this court in 2025 alone. Evidently hundreds of cases are open, pending decision. The most recently filed case – other than Liberty Justice Center vs. Trump – is Fuzhou Hengli Paper Company v. the US on April 7th. I am not making this up.

So, it’s unlikely the court can dodge this Trump Tariff case by claiming it doesn’t have jurisdiction. It’s also unlikely that the case will be resolved before the next presidential election. Which is why I don’t take the suit seriously. If it WERE serious, then democrats of all persuasions would be crawling out of the woodwork seeking TV airtime to share their views on the case.

But no matter who wins, the case will then go to the appeals court – maybe a couple of them - before it reaches the US Supreme court. At which point everyone will have lost interest, and go “Huh? What was the question?”

I’m just sayin’ . . .

Trump’s administration sued over sweeping tariffs

I am Not persecuting anyone I am saying they need to create three Bathrooms.
If they want sports it is the same create a new category.

As far as their rights as citizens go they have the same and at the same level as any heterosexual citizen but there are no extra's.

And as far as religion goes I don't have one that I follow, in fact I think the last one I was in was a Mosque in Turkey, but I respected it by dressing appropriately and covering my head even though it was as a tourist
Avectoijesuismoi · 36-40
@SusanInFlorida That is a bit like the CEO gives an instruction and then the Department Managers disobey it and just do whatever they want anyway?
Avectoijesuismoi · 36-40
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I said they had the same rights as any other citizen, but that was all the same as any male of female would have.
@Avectoijesuismoi And then follow it up with statements that by definition takes away their rights.

You can't have it both ways.

You are trying to pull the same mental gymnastics as the people who claimed Jim Crow was equality.

Thats trump's strategy (MO) overwhelm with monotony until everyone just gives up on the issue runs out of energy or forgets why it is happening to begin with. Which is why there should be a limit on appeals. Im fairly confident there are.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@exchrist i don't think anyone is classifing recent events as "being overwhelmed by monotony"
exchrist · 36-40
@SusanInFlorida its monotony defined as
lack of variety and interest; tedious repetition and routine.
He just keeps doing the same thing.
exchrist · 36-40
@SusanInFlorida no one suggested itd be boring or uninteresting.
If you look at what they are involved in in the past this is a right wing think tank that Trump has run afoul of. He is even pissing right wingers already.

So no, Democrats would not run to the rescue of a right wing think tank just because a broken clock got it right this one time.
@Avectoijesuismoi Fortunately other people's rights are not determined by your feelings. And how are you going to enforce that? Molest anyone coming into the bathroom? We already have videos of big burly male cops barging into the ladies room to "check" a female just because she was not conventionally attractive enough to fight some arbitrary case by case "standard".

And statistically those cops are the ones you need to worry about being a predator. Ditto with conservative church leaders who are behind this moral panic.

And this is not about fairness in sports. It is about persecuting a tiny minority instead of actually dealing with real problems.

And again, fortunately people's rights are not dictated by your feelings.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow its easy enough to "piss off" voters. just mess with their money.

1 - increase taxes (tariffs)

2 - crash the stock market

3 - create supply chain shortages of essential medicines with constantly changing import rules

apparently the federal government spending twice what it collects in taxes annually is NOT one of the things that pisses off voters.
@SusanInFlorida You blindly support the guy who is putting tariffs on everything.

Ditto with crashing tghe stock market.

Weird how you call this out and turn around and cheerlead MAGA.

And that last statement requires a source. And deficits are just big numbers right wingers like to use to scare the uneducated. No countries do not operate like household finances.

True. Democrats don't know how to fight against a fascist party.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@BohoBabe definitions of fascist vary with the times we live in. some might call it fascist to

1 - invade vietnam, to "stop communism"

2 - nuke hiroshima and nagasaki

3 - imprison japanese people who are legally US citizens in concentration camps during world war 2)

4 - maintain colonies in places as far flung as: panama; south korea; puerto rico; guam, samoa; costa rica, honduras, colombia . . .
BohoBabe · M
@SusanInFlorida It's true that democratic countries, even democratic parties within those countries, can do fascist things. But there's a big difference between that, and a government or a party that is fully fascist.

I think it was wrong to imprison Americans during WWII, just because their ancestry was Japanese, Italian, or German. But that was a temporary thing that happened during a war, and was largely seen as an overreaction immediately afterwards.
On the other hand, the Axis countries were imprisoning minorities, not just during the war, but indefinitely as part of an overall program to "purify" the nation.

I've condemned Biden and Obama for funding Israel, which is a fascist country. But because the Democrats aren't actually fascist, neither president enacted long-term fascist policies in America. Whereas the Republicans, being fascist, are trying to completely overhaul the foundations of America to be fascist.

Most likely some outfit Soros, Obama, Hillary, Gates and a movie star or two or funding.
