Did you know ?

From 1776 up until the ratification of the 16th Amendment in 1913, which established a federal income tax, customs duties were the main source of revenue for the U.S. federal government.

Is this Trump’s strategy? Cut taxes for the wealthy while shifting the burden onto everyday Americans?

I'm sure it isn't. The reason for tariffs is to level the playing field across the board.

@nudistsueaz It's still early morning hours in China. They're saying that if China hits back, trade could just stop! That would not be pretty. Are we going to open sewing factories?

@Jokersswild Who is they??? We can, had them here before. I really think most of that sewing can be done with robotics now anyway.

@nudistsueaz Sorry, when I said "they," I was referring to Trump's former official at the Department of Commerce, Nazakhtar Nikakhtar. In any case, China did hit back with a 125% reciprocal tariff, and now Trump’s backing down by excluding half of Chinese imports from tariffs. This is very embarrassing for the U.S.

@Jokersswild Oh not embarrassing at all, it's all part of the trade talks. Obiden was what was embarrassing.
