Trump blatantly lied when he said the other countries pays the tariffs / just like Mexico was going to build the wall, and taxpayers lost billions some of which was scammed and other putting up a wall that had began to lean rather badly.

America imposes tariffs on Chinese clothing imports. The America based clothing outlet pays those tariffs to continue importing clothing from China, or they instead import from another country with lower tariffs and pay those, or they turn to domestic manufacturers of clothing to avoid the tariffs. Unfortunately the domestic manufacturers are more expensive anyway because they have far higher labour and materials costs than China. Whichever way the America based outlet turns, the end result is increased costs which will be passed on to the American consumer 👏
