This was planned while Biden was still president. Also, tariffs are paid by the customers, not the corporations or the country being tariffed. So the stuff here about avoiding tariffs by increasing localization, that's just marketing.

@BohemianBabe So you don't grasp the concept of a foreign car manufacturer building a large plant inside the U.S (to avoid tariffs) , doing business with more new U.S. based vendors (to avoid parts and components that will be tariffed and helps grow the U.S, economy) in order to offer competitive pricing to the U.S. consumer (who is not paying hidden tariff on the car), hiring hundred maybe thousands of U.S. citizens (which helps grow our economy). So that's just marketing? Do you expect anyone to take you seriously on this? I'm not saying tariffs are all good, they're not. But you don't seem to have a grasp on this particular topic.
@LLcoolK Seems like you didn't grasp what I said.

The deal was already made, so this has nothing to do with the tariffs. This isn't a foreign company changing their plans because of American policy, this is a foreign company simply mentioning American policy in their marketing. So yeah, this is just marketing.

Also, tariffs can help corporations make more money in that they can raise their prices, then just blame it on the tariffs. It's the same thing they do with inflation. Whenever inflations rises, corporations raise their prices, not just to offset the inflation, but also just to make a larger profit. Literally the only people hurt by tariffs are the working-class, which is the point.
And yes, I know there are exceptions, there are some products that have cheap local alternatives, but that's not how MAGA is using tariffs.

@BohemianBabe When was the deal made? A business doesn't necessarily increase profits at all because of a tariff. A tariff is a real cost paid by the corporation. Yes, they can pass it along and many will try if the market will bear it. But when a company who has the increased cost of a tariffs is competing with a company that does not have an increased cost of tariffs, the company paying the tariff may have to cut profit to stay competitive. They can't arbitrarily raise prices as much as they like. The market will limit how much, if any, they can increase their price to the end user. Using a blanket statement statement like that shows your lack of understanding about this.

@BohemianBabe you can believe one thing for sure everyone is going to raise their prices just like they did during and after the pandemic whiter it had anything to with their business or not. All businesses need is an excuse or maybe not.
@LLcoolK Back in 2022. Not that I think Biden should get credit for this either. Hyundai is a growing company that expands in America every few years.

A business doesn't necessarily increase profits at all because of a tariff.

Not what I said. I said that companies will often use tariffs as an excuse, the same way they use inflation as an excuse, to raise their prices in order to both offset the new cost, as well as make a bigger profit.
@Briggett Absolutely. The inflation caused by the lockdowns was real, no doubt many companies had no choice. But a lot just took advantage of the situation. It's going to be the same thing with the tariffs.
On the bright side, America might invade Greenland, Panama, Canada, and Mexico. So at least the downfall will be funny.

@BohemianBabe you know a lot of people are clueless and lost
