That article says
Along with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.

!!! NEWS FLASH!!!
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing has been building its plant outside Phoenix AZ since 2022! And the investment by TSMC was stimulated by Biden's 2022 Chips Act! This is another case of tRump taking credit for what happened under Biden🤣😂

Planning from 2022

@ElwoodBlues The power of half truths eh? Fools the ill-informed every time.
LLcoolK · 51-55, M
@ElwoodBlues Can't have it both ways. They started the plant the same year of the 2022 chips act? So this was the rare exception when a multi-billion dollar investment was not planned years in advance during the Trump administration? But instead began almost instantly due to a Biden administration incentive within the same year?
@LLcoolK No, they GREATLY EXPANDED their investment due to the chips act.

Oh, look, tRump wants to kill the chips act now
Trump wants to kill $52.7 billion semiconductor chips subsidy law

WASHINGTON, March 4 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Tuesday U.S. lawmakers should get rid of a landmark 2022 bipartisan law to give $52.7 billion in subsidies for semiconductor chips manufacturing and production and use the proceeds to pay debt.

"Your CHIPS Act is a horrible, horrible thing. We give hundreds of billions of dollars and it doesn't mean a thing. They take our money and they don't spend it," Trump said in a speech to Congress. "You should get rid of the CHIPS Act and whatever is left over, Mr. Speaker, you should use it to reduce debt."

China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, they're ALL subsidizing chip manufacturing, but genius tRump doesn't want any aid to reach American manufacturers???

@ElwoodBlues It's sounds as though you are assuming that they greatly expanded due to the chips act. Wouldn't a very large expansion need years to plan as well?

@trollslayer One thing I give them, they never give up in the face of facts; they just keep arguing on and on trying to deflect. I'm done on this silly post lol
LLcoolK · 51-55, M
@JimboSaturn Of course you are. I think we a have a clean up on aisle 9 at trollslayer's grocery store! Seems as though their's been a lefty meltdown!

@LLcoolK are you kidding me? Are you so stuck in your bubble that you cannot recognize that your arguement is not valid and you seem delusional as you continue to show ignorance.

Bottom line.. tariffs had zero to do with hundai. And...to be clear, the auto industry is already suffering. Stocks have again fallen.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Carla Another point I listened to a supply chain specialist and parts manufacturing specialist last night and today. Tariffs will in affect stop business and reduce sales. This will not only affect the money collected by tariffs by the US government because there is no importing happening, but will also reduce revenues for auto manufacturerers and limit their ability to invest in new capital due to a reduced cash flow.
LLcoolK · 51-55, M
@Carla I posted a story. A story I did not write. Tariffs have pluses and minuses. Trump is using them strategically and will likely back off some of them somewhat. What argument are you referring to? Please be specific about what argument I made that you claim I am delusional about. I made zero arguments about the validity of tariffs. All I did was post this article and many of you self-anointed economists and tariff experts chimed in with no real knowledge of this transaction other than what this article states. So many of you blindly want to balk at the article, not because you know anything about the investment, you have absolutely no idea what influenced this investment and others like it. To say that tariffs had noting to do with it is very laughable, because you have zero inside knowledge, you're just spewing echo chamber talking points. You know nothing at all. To use such general sweeping statements like "tariffs had zero to do with hundai" (your spelling not mine) is to claim that you know everyt aspect of the decision to make the investment. Do you know we already have tariffs on import cars? Just like companies such as Toyota, Mazda and Honda, Hyundai with its two current U.S. plants is investing in a third. If you don't think the 2.5% tariff that has been in effect for sometime has a very important influence on foreign manufacturers moving their plants here, you need to go back to your knitting and gardening. The "bottom line" is the the loony lefties who comment on posts like this are only bringing their opinion and nothing more. Much like JimboSaturn verifying a time when the investment could or could not have been made using a poorly educated guess based on his grocery store background. But now it seems he's watched a video and has his minor in supply chain science. You are the ones who are delusional. You are sure about nothing but are incredibly bold in your ignorance. Posting this article was amusing just to watch people like yourself and many others pretend to have knowledge and deep understanding about this article, economics and international trade. Almost immediately you and those like you are reduced to personal attacks, which is the dull tool of the ignorant. You cannot stand in the face of the simple questioning of your arguments or reasoning. I am not defending Trump's tariff's categorically. I just posted a story to watch the show. And you and others like you never disappoint. Like moths to a flame you simply cannot help or control yourselves. The group think among many of you is off the charts. There may be a few on this post who can contribute some knowledge, I haven't read every response, but most cannot. You only give broad vague statements that cannot be pinpointed and for which you cannot be held accountable. The only arguments I made were to poke holes in the obvious weak reasoning many commenters made coming into the conversation pretending to be intelligent and informed, much like yourself. Using their own reasoning, it was't hard to expose them as phonies. Many of you made statements that should have only be made by those who were involved the process. Tariffs can be very good and can be very bad. The only real motivation many of you had to pretend to have a legitimate contribution to the conversation is that you don't like Trump. That's it. Nothing more. In contrast to most everyone on this post, I actually have first hand knowledge of how the recent tariffs Trump seems determined to place on goods imported from China are spurring large investment less than an hour drive from my home. In DIRECT response to Trump's almost certain tariff increase on China, investors are moving VERY QUICKLY to wrap up the purchase a very large tract of land with committed funds to build large warehousing and manufacturing structures as well as housing. The project will allow Chinese manufactures to assemble products in the U.S. to avoid import tariffs. The projection is that close to 10,000 jobs will be created just to service the manufacturers not to mention the impact this will have on local service suppliers, vendors and retailers. I know community leaders involved in this, I've seen initial planning. This is real and it is directly due to tariffs, Carla, tariffs. Specifically Trump's new tariffs. Chinese investors aren't stupid. They knew they had to be prepared for a Trump victory and the changes that would follow. They are moving quickly on this. So the bottom line is most of the commentators on here are full of themselves and have nothing worth contributing to the conversation other than their opinion which is generally biased against Trump. You, nor anyone else in this conversation can intelligently comment on whether or not new tariffs were a part of Hyundai's decision because you simply can't know. You guys are a clown show.
