If you see AOC's lowercase stylization as a rejection of hierarchy—including the economic and social hierarchies reinforced by capitalism—that’s a valid and intriguing idea. Her work on Capitol Hill is undoubtedly subversive, and her anti-authoritarianism often extends to her views on government, war, and mass culture, all of which are entangled with capitalist structures.
