Pretty much the same irony as eviro-friend Mark Kelly selling his tesla and getting a Tahoe huh?
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@marybmom You do realize GM makes EVs too right? It is not 2003 when Tesla was the only game in town.
marybmom · 31-35, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I do realize that I wonder why Mark didn't.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@marybmom I think not buying a car from a nazi is kind of the bigger priority at the moment. Just saying.
marybmom · 31-35, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow than the destruction of the planet? Musk's company already got all the money they were ever going to get off that car.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@marybmom One person's car won't destroy the planet.
And not exactly. Dealerships make a fortune on maintenance and repair.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow the fact is it was virtue signaling and since that's all it was he should have had it crushed not put the sale price in his pocket. Or put the sale price in his pocket quietly. There are 100 senators in Washington tell me the last one before Mark Kelly to sell a car and why. He was probably the strongest front runner for 28 because he hadn't played the look at me games. Now he will enter a likely very crowded primarily field behind in media clout whith a self induced poll chasers label.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@marybmom No. It is called walking your walk.
Virtue signaling is making politically useful statements and not backing it up with action.
Boycotts are not virtue signaling.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Senator Mark Kelly was thee democrats best chance at undoing Trump policies. Gavin, Pete and Tim all have more media clout and Kamala if she decides to run. Kelly was the one who could have claimed being above the stunts, he could have gone head to head with J.D.. He could have picked Whittmer as a VP Newsome as interior secretary Harris as AG Shapiro secretary of state

@marybmom Again. You seem determined to tar him based exclusively on your personal feelings.
As for best chances for the Demcrats I think Tim Walz was the best option out of all the people you mentioned. He is one of the only working class people left in the entire party.
The rest have no idea what to do outside a New York liberal cocktail party.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Tim Walz won't draw the donors. I'm not trying to tar Kelly he did that himself. What besides political gain was the point and or outcome? The only good I see is political virtue, no actual plan to legislate push back. He got air time and that-a-boy drom already democratic voters. What independent voter saw that and says yep there's my guy.
marybmom · 31-35, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Allow me to ask your opinion. Would it be a better statement to say I've introduced 10 pieces of legislation to limit the reach of DOGE republicans refuse to vote on any of them, or I sold a used car to stick it to DOGE.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@marybmom The donors are the problem. Nobody wants to vote for the party of out of touch billionaires.
Again Kelly is backing his views with action. As for passing bills or ditching a car. Walking your walk generally means both.
Stuff like that that are high visibility matter too. Voting for that legislation benefits people long term. But the reality is the average voter who is not actively engaged all the time will get bored the minute you start talking about legislation because they have no idea what those bills are about because Democrats suck at messaging and assume the average American will read a 200 page bill and don't tell their voters what they are doing for them.
The gestures that get air time on TV is what the average joe normie remembers.
Selling your car to make a statement sticks with people. Expecting them to remember he voted for a bill that lowered inflation by 2% (just an example) is not the sort of thing that sticks with people who only engage during election season.
