You want to know why Autism has increased? Because of private health insurance, the school system, and parents who want services for their hard-to-manage child and don’t want to pay fir them. If you code the child as “autistic” suddenly that opens the door to money and services. The parents then get free therapies, the doctors get paid, and the schools get paid.

The kids are no different than they were 40 years ago - just that the umbrella of autism has widened exponentially. That weird kid who made weird noises in class because he was neglected at home is now labeled “autistic”.

I think the change in definition and the monitary incentives are indeed part of the equation. I also have to wonder what effect the toxins in our food, medications, supplements and vaccines are having. Many countries have outlawed the use of many of the chemicals we put in our foods because studies have show they are harmful. As with most things the answer and solution is likely more complicated than we'd prefer.
