Given the way the govt has mismanaged it over the decades since it was implemented .. is he really wrong? Insert Congress instead of Bernie Madoff and its about where the feck we are.
@Charity There is legitimate concern for it not remaining fully funded to avoid reductions in benefits or extending the full retirement age out further .. again. Are you telling me you are not aware of that ? Enough has been paid in that if competently managed, we would not be facing this. Wake up and smell the swamp gas.
@BrandNewMan as I said to another if this country can send billions to other countries, some countries monthly and if the current president can spin 10 million in 2 months on golf trips then they can help the elderly which has paid portions of the social security they get throughout their years of work, the children whose parent or parent has also done likewise, are those disabled and couldn't or once did do likewise.
If you live you will get old, if you live you may become disabled at some point in a younger age and if you're not a billionaire or relatively wealthy you're going to wish for social security.
@Charity I am not saying social sexurity should be cut. I am saying the government has mismanaged the funds we paid into it for decades (I'm 60 yrs old). Otherwise there would be no way it should be running short of money. It doesn't have a damn thing to do w Presidents playing golf.
@BrandNewMan There is no Social Security trust fund. It is a WELFARE PROGRAM. The original administrators of SS argued before the Supreme Court that it was a WELFARE PROGRAM.
