Given about 5% of voters always vote for candidates other than the main candidates. The results cannot be as reported.

Final tally is 49.8 to 48.7 leaving only 1.5% of votes to go to other candidates.
Someone is lying.

Where did you get the stat that 5% of voters always vote for someone other than the Democrat or Republican? That sounds like the lie to me.

Alternatively, do those 5% show up to vote in every election? Or are they just low propensity voters who vote third party on the rare occasions that they cast a ballot?

@Theyitis based on memory of every presidential election ive ever review 3 to 5% of voters vote for third party candidates. Usually about 4.2 as i recall. In this election 98.5% of votez were cast for the 2 main candidates yet of fhe remaining 1.5% that were cast for other candidates cnn reports 1.8+% of votes were cast for other candidates. Therefore someone is lying.
@exchrist I understand you. You're recognizing that it's unusual. Do you really think it points to a lie though? Not something broader?

@SinlessOnslaught im only examining the results its a lot of math but there seems to be .24 to .35 percentage points unaccounted for. Given the final result was 1.81%of a difference in votes but only a reported victory of 1.5%, id think it needs to be reviewed.

@SinlessOnslaught put another way the 1.5% reported victory margin does not equal the 1.8+% of votes for all other candidates. Someone is lying.
