It worked because most Americans:
1. Believe the narrative,
2. Believe that Trump decided to stand up and make a fist for the cameras despite having supposedly been targeted seconds before, and also
3. Believe that his ear healed miraculously just days after a bullet apparently took half his ear off, according to some "reports".
