Turns out that democracy doesn’t die in darkness, it dies in broad daylight.

I can't understand why more isn't being made of the Musk/Trump corporate coup of the US government.

What they ar doing is widely illegal and unconstitutional. Where is the outrage?

@Burnley123

There's a dangerous feeling of resignation in the country.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@beckyromero It looks that way.

Having called Trump a fascist (which was taking things slightly too far) the Democrats have just given up.

Shrugging their shoulders as Musk cripples the American administrative state.

Saying 'their might be a conflict of interests,' really isn't going far enough.

@Burnley123 What I don't understand about American politics is the lack of opposition to the government. In Canada, we have and adversarial system where the parties battle it out daily. Everything the Prime Minister says or does is immediately criticized by the opposition leaders. Just because a Party's leader is not the Prime Minister, that does mean they are out of the public eyes and ears. In fact more so. Where is Harris and Biden? Maybe I just don't see it on Canadian news.

I think that there’s Truth to both of your positions. They’re not mutually exclusive.

@Burnley123 The Democrats are simply not equipped with the necessary skills to deal with Trump. It was only three weeks ago they showed up to his inauguration! Biden told Trump "welcome home." In their defense however, the party in the minority has very little power, and the Republicans in Congress are a rubber stamp and have ceded Congress as a co-equal branch of government. The Founders had no contingency for this.

@Bumbles

Weak leadership in Congress.

Weak leadership in Democratic state houses that cede control of redistricting to so-called "Citizens Commissions."

The GOP doesn't do that in "Red States." They play to win. Not to give participation awards.

@beckyromero If Biden had run for only one term and Schumer had stepped down the Dems would have been in a much better position. Instead they pretended everything was a-okay. Schumer is definitely the wrong Minority Leader for the moment.

@Bumbles

Schumer is the wrong minority leader at ANY moment.

Been saying that for years.
