Major Issues With The Government Downsizing Plan
DOGE is eliminating the workforce of several federal agencies based. The latest is the CIA. Today all CIA employees were offered an 8-months pay with benefits package to quit immediately.
Trump, and the MAGA GOP believes that this will work to eliminate government waste.
They say it worked for Musk, when he bought Twitter and then fired 80% of the workforce immediately.
Except that it did not.
Musk discovered soon after he did it, that the platform was no longer working.
So he extended offers to a whole bunch of people. Most refused.
When features and improvements started disappearing, advertisers started disappearing.
So Musk threatened lawsuits and starting an insults campaigns against the advertisers, telling them to go fuck themselves, and throwing fits and tantrums publicly, acting like a 2-year old.
He had borrowed most of the money to buy Twitter at an 11% interest rate. An unheard of rate, due to how risky the loans were.
Then he started selling his other assets to pay the interest, because his Twitter was not making on its own.
Nearly 3 years later, his Twitter is still not making it, and he's still selling assets to service the Twitter loans and run Twitter.
Usually you do a deep study, and figure out the lay of the land.
Then you create a priority list.
Then you start cutting starting with the bottom list.
And then you go through a "lifeboat" exercise, to come up with the list of departments/employees you absolutely must have on the lifeboat, because this is the list you need to survive when you reach your destination.
Then you start cutting again.
You don't cut everything first, Twitter style.
The other element of the Twitter Musk deal, was that Musk had beds brought into the offices, and made people live there.
No family, no social life.
He wants to mirror the model for the Federal Government.
So, what will the people he rehires do, if they can't do their wekend tractor pulls, and monster truck shows?
