Former DNC Chair Howard Dean Blasts Democrats' Strategy

Howard Dean, formerly governor of Vermont, spoke with Kasie Hunt on CNN This Morning on Thursday (Nov. 7th, 2024). Hunt asked how he would "diagnose" the problem Democrats face, and what they should do about it.

"The problem is, we haven't done a damn thing since 2008 about getting out into the grassroots," Dean said. "The Democratic Party ought to be putting a lot of money into school board races and into city council races, and into local representative races, including in very red states. And they're not doing that."

Dean went on to reference the 50-state strategy, a campaign policy created in 2005 that aims to focus political efforts in every precinct, city, and state in the country, instead of leaving out states believed to be unwinnable.

Dean was DNC Chair until January 2009.

And then Barack Obama, new DNC Chair Tim Kaine and his successor, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, squandered all that was built up thru the 2008 elections.

Over one thousand - OVER ONE THOUSAND - elective office holders in the Senate, House and state legislatures and governorships were lost by the time Obama left office. OVER ONE THOUSAND.

From when Barack Obama was elected in 2008, to when Donald Trump was elected in 2016, the Democratic Party lost a total of 15 state houses chambers, 14 state senate chambers, 960 state legislative seats, 10 governorships, 62 seats in Congress, and 11 seats in the Senate.

Noticed that a local NBC station is getting into the local politics frey more and more.

They are creating quite a stur locally. Especially one reporter by the name of Fred Roggin.

Perhaps you might have heard of him. He once was a sports reporter in LA.

It's funny how he gets the all the local counsel and school board members all worked up, in every city throughout the whole valley.🤣

He goes around them when they refuse to answer.

This is what is needed. More reporting on local issues.

As it was, everything could be hidden.
