Carla The only allay that Trump will have on his annexation of Gaza will be Benjamin Netanyahu himself whom the Israelis all hate with a passion over there in Israel, no different than most of the entire world plus about half of the USA hates Donald J. Trump on the same level.
Everything would go fine for the USA after the annexation became finalized (and until Netanyahu was no longer in the picture that is) and then all of a sudden the Israelis would look out their back window and discover this thing called the USA parked in their backyard that's as much of an eyesore to Israel as Palestine was.
All of a sudden, Israel finds itself right back where they started 2000 years ago except now they have new and very obnoxious neighbors who all love to fly their little American flags from their front porches and leave their barking dog outside all night long, instead of their otherwise very quite Palestinian neighbors who tended to keep to themselves unless provoked by Israel.
How do you get an American occupation of land out of your backyard? Just ask Canada. You don't. As a Canadian, you buy ear muffs and close the window blinds so you can't see them running around like rats at night with their guns.
Canada's Prime Minister Trudeau at a United Nations conference is quoted as saying in response to someone thinking how fortunate it is for Canada to be living beside the USA, responded "Living beside the USA is like crawling into bed at night with an elephant who comes home drunk every night".
Trump was asked specifically if Palestinians would be able to relocate back to their old homeland once the USA cleaned things up and rebuilt Gaza with condos and casinos as Trump inferred would be his game plan, at which point Trump also inferred that Gaza would welcome anyone who could afford a seat at the roulette table, which means rich White people-only in Trump's world.
What we're seeing with Trump is indeed a smoke screen, a distraction like you say, because as long as we're focusing on Trump's annexations or tariff plans, we're not paying attention to the incompetence that Trump is trying to get confirmed into his government with the likes of RFK Jr.
Every morning when I awaken, I am grateful to realize that I am not an American Citizen and that I do not live in the USA nor will I ever be forced to.
