Similarly in Britain, but let's remember corporate America was raiding British and European industry for much of the 20C and into this, so can't really complain when the same happens to it.
Within each country so affected, perhaps the question should be, "Why are our own investors not interested in our own companies?"
There are many reason why "Western" countries have lost so much to Asia and more recently also South America; and sadly some of those reasons are internal, or self-inflicted. I wish it were not so, that the USA and UK did make their own cars, electrical goods, steel, etc. by their own investors' money, but I think we have to accept that is not going to happen again, at least not in the foreseeable future.
