Your Reaction to M. Streep's Award Speech?

“This instinct to humiliate, when it’s modeled by someone in the public platform, by someone powerful, it filters down into everybody’s life, because it kinda gives permission for other people to do the same thing,” she said. “Disrespect invites disrespect, violence incites violence. And when the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose.”

[c=#BF0080]I don't think it was the time or place for her to get her political views in. [/c]
I didn't hear a Political view, I heard an intelligent human view. She is an America with the freedom of speech.

Agreed. She is privileged to have the platform and misused it. But to me, given the stakes for the U.S. propriety takes a backseat in this case.

@softspokenman: Agreed. The poutrage is overdone; on the other hand the forum isn't the best for changing minds. I mean I wouldn't be outraged if Scott Baio was up there praising Trump, but I'd tune him out nonetheless.
@softspokenman: [c=#BF0080]Okay, well I did here a political view and I'm not saying she can't express it. However, an awards show doesn't seem appropriate. Just my opinion.[/c]
@luckranger71: Did you read his tweet about her: "Overrated Actress" ?
@softspokenman: She gets a lifetime achievement award, by her peers, and he says that she is Over rated? Using position to bully ? I guess where she said it is more important than what she said, obviously "fell on deaf ears".

I see your point and agree. But to me the 'greater good' is served by calling out Trump, regardless of venue@pinkrainbowkisses:
