I’ll give Trump credit for this..

I had to go to the 24 hour drugstore last night. Normally, there is a bunch of riffraff hanging around there at night, and a bunch of day laborers there during the day as it is in a Home Depot parking lot. Last night? Nothing. I don’t know the reason, but my suspicion is that some of those folks fear being picked up for immigration issues.

Not that I think this solves a complex problem, nor do I think scare tactics are good in the long run, but I can at least understand the motivation of Trump voters.

And yes, most anti-trump voters want immigration laws enforced, too, they just differ on the means and the long-term solutions.

I feel the same way when it comes to immigration.I fully support those who come here.Legally or with the sincere intention to embrace our ways of life and serve or protect this country as well.As benefit through hard honest labor. I even support temporary visas.Be given to those who wish to find a path to citizenship contributing whether it be becoming a first responder a necessary part of our medical system or putting on the uniform and protecting the society they now embrace. The only ones that I support harsh deportation measured for are those with criminal rap sheets and a pattern of law breaking or those who blatantly come here, breaking the law.And seek to subvert the process

@KingofBones1 one argument I have heard for not targeting the undocumented community as a whole is because if they fear contacting authorities, It is harder to catch the bad ones.

@trollslayer Perhaps that is true, honestly. The main reason I also argue for stricter immigration policies is not to target a specific group of people because of origin. After all illegal alien is not a race of people and should never be used as a profiling tool. It applies in definition to anyone that has subverted the process. That being said we are a nation of laws and policies designed to govern and protect. How can one group be allowed to disobey the law when all of us are expected to adhere by it. In principle if we toss out the law for some we should throw out the rule book for everyone and this would create chaos and a very unstable and unsafe society. Men by nature do not like to be governed and I understand this.Sometimes government is definitely far over reaching in its policies.I agree with this also. That being said though I do realize the importance for some basic laws and rules. What we need to do is a too prong approach. Make the process more streamlined for obtaining legal citizenship. For those who wish to be here and remain honest and sincere individuals. And on the other side impose harsher penalties for those who purposely seek to duck the process
