The bishop took advantage of Trump being there to single him out and to deliver her political opinion. Sort of like when the cast of Hamilton took advantage of then VP Pence attending their performance.

It’s an unfair setting when just one side has a microphone and a stage or pulpit. And of course the media can be expected to hop aboard. They likewise have an unfair advantage since they own the TV cameras and the printing presses, much like the bishop and the performing cast own their stages.

@Heartlander She addressed Christian values in a church to a man who claimed to be saved from death by God. However, it is strange that in a state where God is officially only mentioned on the monetary bills, that the President (not just this one) asks for prayers and is surprised when the Person being prayed to becomes involved through someone who speaks to Him for job.

@FreddieUK the reference to God is at the heart of our Declaration of Independence. Then, in reflection to all the misery, deaths, torture committed by some who claim exclusive authority to speak for God, we prohibit a state religion.

Places of worship usually lock their doors at night, and have behavior protocols for those who enter. Services have ushers and staff to help enforce the conduct. How is that different from a country’s need to manage its doors?

@Heartlander It was wise of your Founders to not have a state religion, but my point is still that what was being talked about was not a political one (i.e nothing was said about the need to manage the borders) but attitudes to all the people from the one they elected.
